Lower Sauk River Overnight August 18-19 2007
This weekend we floated the lower Sauk river from the highway 530 bridge to the confluence with the Skagit, taking out at a fish access on the Skagit river.
Please be patient while the pictures load...
The lower Sauk is class I - II. Mostly flat moving water, with the occasional easy rapid.

This sand and gravel bluff was in a very quiet section of the river. We heard the constant trickle of gravel sliding down the bank as we floated by.

Al places hot coals on the dutch oven to cook a prime rib roast.
Anticipating good old Washington liquid sunshine, we set up the kitchen under a shelter.
Dinner's cooking, it's time to relax.
Next morning and still in a good mood. It rained all night.

Sauk mountain is shrouded in clouds and rain. It rained all morning; we decided to wait it out playing cards.

We finally launched about 14:00. It stopped raining long enough to break camp and pack up, but rained off and on the rest of the day.

We took out at a fishing access on the Skagit river.
We had to pack all the gear on Al's rig then drive up to where we launched to get my truck and transfer gear for the drive home.
